Bio

Cat(Catherine) leverages over 20 years of executive leadership experience in peacebuilding, youth development, and social justice fields. She has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for non-profits, empowered women, developed programs for youth, and served as the lead fundraising and communications officer. In Washington D.C. she has led resource mobilization and strategy on policy advocacy and campaigning, human rights and peacebuilding. Cat is an esteemed veteran at building, enhancing and restructuring fundraising, finance and administrative operations, and providing professional development and coaching support for resource development and program outcomes.  Her skill set is international with a high level of cultural competencies learned by coaching implementation teams and collaborating with field partners across a global portfolio.

Skill Set

Fundraising and Campaign Communications

Over twenty years of relationship-based fundraising success including corporate, government, foundations, major gifts, capital campaign solicitations, special events fundraising, and planned giving. Rich experience in developing donor engagement, communications, direct marketing and digital strategy initiatives to identify and engage new audiences and stakeholders.  Including content development, multi-channel campaigns, list growth, and teaming / partnership efforts.

 

Resource Mobilization, Grants and Contracting

From RFP to full-blown partnership and new business development, Cat has extensive government /institutional grants and contracting experience.  Program design and development, partnership development with public and private sector partners, proposal development, implementation coaching, evaluation design and data analysis, program deliverables, financial reporting and project close-outs. Recent projects included State of New Jersey and Maryland partners, as well as Rutgers University and University of Maryland.  Federal agencies have included U.S. Dept. of State, U.S. Dept. of Transportation, U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security, FEMA, and Dept. of Labor, plus additional overseas and multilateral institutional and foreign affairs funders.

Public Speaking, Facilitation and Training

Serves as on-screen, on-stage and on-camera special event host, Master of Ceremonies for major productions / awards shows, panel discussion facilitator and presenter / trainer.  Trainings, workshops and panels include community-based discussions on diversity, equity and cross-community engagement, planning and professional development / education sessions for Boards, grantees and stakeholders, peacebuilding panels on best practices and outcomes data, corporate briefings on U.S. Treasury guidance affecting international supply chains and markets.  In addition to appearing online/on-screen or stage, Cat also contributes collaboratively to messaging and storyboards, curriculum development, on-screen content during panel discussions, panel topic development, speaker engagement and preparations/briefings, etc.

Content Creation and Production

Cat has also guided production of communications products, such as videos, training webinars and other storytelling modalities, including scripting/storyboard development, messaging, interviewing stakeholders on camera, writing and producing voice overs, and working with camera, sound and event producers / contractors for on-site production and capture, as well as post-event production of products such as publications, promotional and interview videos, multimedia productions, and online campaign content.

Organizational Development and Capacity Building

Senior-level leader with robust capacities in strategic planning, finance, and overall business model enhancement through efficiencies, fundraising and evaluation/storytelling of impacts. Experienced at organizational development projects and nonprofit administrative management.  Experienced in start-ups, transitions, mergers and new strategic plan implementions supported by donors and Boards.   

 

Board and Partner Development

Extensive experience in facilitating Board member and high-profile outreach, engagement and capacity-building, including fundraising as well as organizational joint resource mobilization efforts. For partnership development, extensive results with foundation, corporate and public sector partners including law enforcement, education, and collaborating NGOs.

 

Administration & Financial Management

Proven ability to restructure or build administrative, financial and fundraising operations. Strong skills in developing and monitoring budgets, cost-benefit analysis, financial reports and projections.  Experienced with government reporting requirements, public accounting standards for tax exempt organizations, indirect cost negotiations, donor reporting requirements, and audits. Systems and process engineering experience including finance systems and databases such as Blackbaud, Intacct and Salesforce products.  Manages IRS 501c3 application processes, works with Finance team members to file ongoing annual 990 for both 501c3 nonprofits and private foundations, as well as State-level organizational and business filings as required.
